Survivors of Abuse
What is the Family Justice Center?
The Henderson County Family Justice Center (HCFJC) is a partnership of agencies dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence through prevention, intervention, and coordinated response. We provide comprehensive, trauma-informed, client-centered services—all in one safe location.
Established in 2024, the core concept of the Family Justice Center is to offer one place where victims and survivors can:
- Navigator-led discussion on needs and support, and referrals to services
- Speak with an advocate
- Plan for their safety
- Meet with law enforcement
- Connect with a prosecutor
- Receive information on shelter and community resources
- Access spiritual support referrals
- Obtain other essential services for themselves and their families
Our Mission
A collaborative partnership of agencies committed to providing comprehensive, trauma-informed, and client-centered services in a centralized location—supporting all who have experienced domestic, elder, and sexual abuse through prevention and immediate crisis response in our community.
Our Vision
We are dedicated to fostering HOPE, encouraging healing, and advocating for justice alongside survivors of abuse.
Is the Center Open?
Yes. On October 21, 2024, the Henderson County Family Justice Center held its grand opening, becoming the 14th center in Tennessee. All services at the FJC are FREE and Confidential for individuals and their family members.
Why Do We Need a Family Justice Center?
A Family Justice Center is a community-wide collaboration that brings together public and private agencies in one location to better serve victims of:
- Domestic violence
- Sexual assault
- Elder abuse
- Other forms of interpersonal violence
The purpose of the FJC is to reduce the burden often placed on victims by eliminating the need to travel to multiple locations for help. By co-locating services, families can access comprehensive support in a safe, convenient, and family-friendly environment.
What Are the Benefits for Henderson County?
Using a wraparound service model, the FJC coordinates all available resources into a unified system focused on survivor safety, support, and empowerment. This model benefits the entire community by:
- Strengthening agency collaboration
- Reducing barriers for victims
- Minimizing duplication of services
- Increasing efficiency and accountability
- Promoting long-term community health and safety
The power of WE at work is making Henderson County a stronger, safer, and healthier place to live and raise future generations.

FJC entrance

The tranquil, safe, trauma-informed, client-centered den for a parent and children to meet with an advocate, to talk, complete paperwork with complete autonomy.

A young mother of two, Shayna Cozart, lost her battle in a domestically abusive relationship September 3rd, 2018. We dedicate the survivor den in her memory, vowing to make every effort to give other survivors the options they need to break-free from abuse and safe lives.

Encouraging survivors and their families, HOPE starts here with support on their journey.

A safe, inviting, trauma-informed place to meet with an advocate.

A SAFE, fun place for kids to play and be a kid again, changing their focus from the scenarios of home.

Positive Affirmations to inspire hope, joy and respect in a SAFE environment.

Survivor art to show individuals in crisis a better day is ahead through healing, support, & survival to once again Thrive with HOPE.
